Functional Medicine is the science of treating the human body’s imbalances by using natural supplements and therapies based upon research and technologically advanced testing.

Visually, the graph  depicts where Functional Medicine lies in the plane of Traditional Medicine. The gray area of health is where we focus, the preventative state, before the aches, pains and fatigue get to a point where disease is evident. No other facet in health care will provide you with an explanation of 1) why you are where you are and 2) an action plan of how to get you back on track to Optimal Health. Dr. Emily will save you tremendous time, energy and resources by prioritizing the systems that profoundly and positively impact your body’s physiology.  Dr. Emily currently is only accepting new patients on a very limited basis as she works full time as a mom.

PCOS {Polycystic Ovary Syndrome}

The most common cause of infertility in the United States today is polycystic ovary syndrome. PCOS is a metabolic condition in which insulin and testosterone elevations disrupt pituitary feedback loop coordination. Insulin resistance appears to play a major role in the development of PCOS. Insulin resistance leads to Androgen Dominance and Androgen Dominance leads to PCOS.

Thyroid

Whether you are new to thyroid issues, experiencing symptoms or seeing a healthcare provider about your thyroid, we have resources to help you make sense of your symptoms and support your thyroid health. Thyroid disease is more common than diabetes or heart disease. As many as 27 million Americans are affected with thyroid disorders and more than half of those remain undiagnosed. Thyroid disorders are more common in women and tend to run in families. Many others are told their thyroid is normal – even if they are suffering from severe symptoms.
